Google Ads announced last month that automated Vehicle Ads are now available to Canadian Advertisers and will be expanding to more countries at a later date. This ad format was previously only available to U.S. advertisers after launching in March 2022.
What Are Automated Vehicle Ads?
If you don’t already know, Google’s Automated Vehicle Ads are a performance-focused, omnichannel, lower funnel ad format on Google Ads that allows dealerships to promote their inventories to interested customers shopping for vehicles on Google Search.
This ad format allows you to upload car images and fill out detailed information about the vehicle including make, model, price, kilometers, and the advertiser’s name. When a user clicks on your vehicle ad, they will be taken to a vehicle description page on the advertiser’s site.
Note: you cannot use vehicle ads to promote vehicle parts, accessories, tires, or services.
Setting Up Your Vehicle Ads
To use this new format on Google Ads, advertisers will need to create a vehicle inventory feed and connect it to Google Merchant Center. The feed must contain data on make, model, price, kilometers, and condition.
To set your ads up, you’ll need to do the following:
- Set up your accounts.
- Enable the vehicle ads program.
- Add your business information.
- Create, register, and submit your feeds.
- Link your Google Business Profile and select your location group OR create, register, and submit your store feed.
- Complete website policy review.
- Set up Google Ads for vehicle ads.
