What Do These Mean?
Are you a little unsure what these nerdy valentine cards really mean? Let us explain…
#FF0000 and #006CFF
These are HTML colour codes, and they are used to identify and represent a specific colour online. They are comprised of hexadecimal values that represent the RGB colour (red, green, blue) and hue. #FF0000 is the HTML code for ‘red’ and #006CFF is the code for ‘blue’.
Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer often gets a bad rap for a number of reasons. For digital marketers and tech professionals, it’s avoided for its frequent security issues and its susceptibility to hackers.
Shopping Cart
Just like the cart’s used in the real world, an eCommerce shopping cart is used to facilitate the purchase process on a website or eCommerce platform. It allows users to collect items from an online store, collect the items in a virtual cart, and complete the payment and connect with the shipping process.
Bounce Rate
It’s important to understand what a bounce rate really is. A bounce rate is the percentage of website visitors who will immediately navigate back to their initial search results, or away from the site in general after only viewing one page.
Converting On The First Click
Converting on the first click, or ‘First-Click Attribution’ is an analytics attribution model that represents the initial or first click which leads a visitor to a website and then is subsequently given credit for a conversion or sale.
Meta Tag
An HTML meta tag is used to provide information about a web page. It is not visibly displayed on the page, but typically contain specific page information such as a descriptor, keywords and other important metadata.
Google Listing
A Google listing is not specifically a website, but rather a listing on Google that displays when a user is searching for a business name or a type of business. It displays business information allowing users to quickly gather contact and business information.
Click To Call
Click-to-call, also referred to as click-to-talk or click-to-dial, is a form of web-based communications where a user can click on a button or text to be connected to a representative by phone while they are browsing a website.
Link Building
To put it simply, link building is an SEO tactic or process in which you acquire links to your website from other websites. It’s considered a favourable SEO tactic (if done right), as it tells Google that your website is regarded as a quality or trusted source.
Bad Landing Page
A landing page is used in digital marketing as a standalone page designed to convert. Well designed and developed landing pages will encourage visitors to complete an action such as completing a form or making a purchase. Poorly designed landing pages, on the other hand, will not succeed in making a user convert, and they will inevitably force the user to “bounce” from the landing page, returning to their previous page without completing the desired next steps. Examples of bad landing pages include lack of information to convert, being sent to an error page, or an unclear call-to-action, to name a few.
Impressions
Impressions, when it comes to digital marketing, is when an advertisement, web page or form of digital media is displayed on a user’s screen. You can think of impressions as defining the number of times the advertisement or digital media piece is potentially viewed.
Orphan URL
Orphaned URL’s are the pages within a website that seem to be missing internal linking within a site. Orphan pages can be an issue as they often go unindexed and will not show up in search results as a crawler won’t be able to connect to the page.
