
When I first joined Ontario SEO as an intern, I never imagined the journey ahead. What began as a cooperative education placement soon became the foundation of a career that has challenged, inspired, and helped me grow in ways I never expected. Back then, I was just starting to understand the fundamentals of digital marketing and SEO. Fast forward to today, Ontario SEO has rebranded into Foundery Digital Marketing Group, I’ve grown alongside it and now work as a Senior SEO Specialist.
In my internship blog post, I described every day as a “school day”. Years later, this sentiment still rings true. One of the things I’ve learned over the years is that no matter how experienced you become, there’s always something new to discover. Strategies, algorithms, and client needs are constantly evolving. Staying curious and adaptable is essential to delivering results.
My Role as Senior SEO Specialist
As a Senior SEO Specialist at Foundery, my work is fast-paced and varied, spanning numerous client projects across many industries. On any given day, I optimize webpages, Google Business Profiles (GBP), and videos, ensuring each client’s digital presence is fully aligned with their goals and SEO best practices. I also run comprehensive SEO audits to identify technical issues and opportunities to improve visibility.
A big part of my role involves conducting competitor and keyword research to develop data-driven strategies tailored to each client. From there, I help draft SEO and content strategies that balance creativity with analytics, ensuring every recommendation is both actionable and results oriented. Working across various projects simultaneously requires me to adapt quickly to shifting priorities and unique clients’ needs, which keeps the work engaging and dynamic.

Company Rebrand
Being part of the transition from Ontario SEO to Foundery was an incredible experience. It wasn’t just a change in name, but a renewed vision and identity. I played an active role in positioning the new website for optimal organic visibility by reviewing and optimizing HTML title tags, meta descriptions, and content. Attention to detail was crucial in ensuring all content migrated correctly, internal links were preserved, and SEO value from the original site was maintained.
Domain Migrations & Website Launches
I’ve supported multiple clients through domain migrations and website launches, projects where technical precision is vital for maintaining search rankings and minimizing traffic disruptions. My role included running comprehensive technical SEO audits, reviewing page positioning, optimizing new content, verifying correct redirects, and setting up Google Analytics conversion tracking to measure performance. After launch, I monitored organic search performance and followed up on rankings to ensure visibility was preserved or improved.
Beyond the technical skills I acquired, these projects shaped me professionally by teaching me how to address problems under pressure. Successfully navigating these challenges has deepened my understanding of how SEO work drives meaningful results for clients.

From healthcare and retail to B2B and beyond, I’ve supported clients with a wide range of unique goals and challenges. These experiences have sharpened my ability to think critically, adapt quickly, and design strategies that align with diverse business needs. Working across industries has broadened my perspective, strengthened my problem-solving skills, and reinforced the importance of flexibility in a constantly evolving digital landscape. Every project has offered me the chance to grow professionally while helping clients achieve meaningful results.
Career Lessons Learned
Through these projects, I’ve learned firsthand that technical expertise alone isn’t enough. Understanding client goals, anticipating challenges, and continually refining strategies are just as important.
In today’s AI-driven landscape, SEO is more important than ever. Search algorithms are evolving rapidly, AI is changing how people discover content, and competition for visibility is fiercer than ever. My role isn’t just about optimizing websites, it’s about making sure clients are visible, competitive, and connect with the right audiences, especially as the rules of search continue to change.

The SEO world never slows down, and that’s exactly what excites me about this field. I’m proud of how far I’ve come since my first day as an intern. Yet, I know there’s always more to learn, more strategies to explore, and more ways to deliver meaningful results for clients.
